Lake George Ice fishing Reports:  January 30th, 2008   Lake George has shallow cracked ice from the village north past Pilot Knob. This ice is not safe. The high winds today may break up some hard water, Although 10 degrees tonight, It will not be a cold  week,  . Have a great winter and go fishing! Please, if you want ice conditions please email instead of calling.

Some ice fishing tips: I have done very well jigging with medium Swedish Pimples and using live bait for Lake Trout and Salmon. Perch fishing offers plenty of action and these "poor mans shrimp" are the tastiest fish out there! Fish for perch with small perch jigs, live bait or a local favorite: a perch eye on a small hook.  If you would like information on what to use, where to get tackle/bait or have any questions, email me anytime at  elockhart@adelphia.net For other info, fish307.com (website is)  www.fish307.com   they will supply you with gear, bait and licenses.

Thank you for the experience of a lifetime!  Our very first ice fishing experience was a great success and we have memories which will last a lifetime.  We just cooked our catch and it was some of the best fish we ever had.  Can't wait to come back to Lake George next year!  Save us a weekend and Happy Fishing!

Here is a story about the Trout.

Seeing the flag trip on a tip-up was a very exciting feeling.  The only challenge is how to run to the flag fast enough to see the catch.  As I approached the flag I knew this was going to be my biggest catch.  It ran the full length of the line!  As I carefully pulled the line up, hand over hand, this guy was not coming up easily.  Every 10 feet, he pulled the line from my hands and ran the line again and again.  After 15 minutes, I could see him at the hole.  I caught a glimpse of his tail and it was apparent he was a keeper.  Finally, he came to the hole and we pulled him out.  This was the biggest Trout I ever caught!  Fishing local rivers, streams and lakes in New Jersey all my life never rendered a prize like this.  I have a lot of appreciation for Ed Lockhart as his expertise and ability to teach us Ice Fishing techniques paid off, in a big way.  Lake George has a Fisherman from New Jersey for Life!
